Welcome to Deer Run #2 “Ballypines Cabin”. This updated, charming true Northwoods lodge was built in 1907 (one of the oldest buildings in St Germain). Located in the shared resort known as Deer Run Resort on the eastern shore of stunning Big Saint Germain Lake. Enjoy the majestic sunsets from the deck amidst the towering pine trees. The view from this cabin is the attraction. The smell of pine is in the air, a loon calls from across the lake, an owl hoots, mommy ducks tending to their young, deer pass several times a day and an eagle swoop down in the lake for a fish. Big St. Germain Lake is over 1625 acres with access to Lake Content and Fawn Lake. Big St. Germain offers uncrowded boating, fishing, swimming and cruising. This is a Class A Musky Lake, plenty of walleye, pike, bass, and pan fish. The cabin is great for families with a level sandy 600 feet of shoreline, large beach area, shallow swim area, sand volleyball court, basketball hoop, playground, nightly campfires with s’mores, and a painted sky of stars. If you’re a fisherman we have plenty of trailer parking, 3 piers and a fish cleaning house. If you rent a boat or bring a boat, make sure you dock your boat at Clearview Supper Club, Sisters Saloon and Fibbers to share your fishing stories or sit back and relax and enjoy an Old Fashioned. St. Germain is a paradise for golfers, fishermen, hunters, and wildlife-watchers! Direct access to trails for hiking, biking, ATV and snowmobiling. Downtown Saint Germain is less then 5 minutes away with a full grocery store, gas station, bait shop, bars and amazing restaurants.

You will love the 3 season room with a custom bar top table, vaulted ceilings and lake views that leads to the huge 30×35 outdoor deck. Relax in the lakeside living room with the best sunset on Big Saint Germain Lake. Bedroom 1 on main level has a king bed and a single bed. Bedroom 2 on main level has a queen bed. Bedroom 3 on 2nd level has a queen bed with amazing lake views. Bedroom 4 on 2nd level has a full bed with 2 twins. Bedroom 5 on 2nd level has 1 Queen and 2 twins. Bedroom 6 on main level (updated in 2021) is a nautical inspired room with a wet bar and a flat screen that can sleep 8 (2 custom bunk beds with trundles and a futon). The kitchen is fully stocked and there are 3 full bathrooms. There are games, poker chips, movies, books, and kayaks provided at no additional cost.

A vacation lodge for all seasons. We have plenty of room for families, reunions, weddings and girls or boys outings. Excellent Ice fishing location, snowshoe & hiking paths nearby.   Cottage is awesome for a family vacation. Lots of sleeping space and kids enjoy the bunk room. We love the large deck in the front and the front screened in porch. Having kakas and a swing set is also very nice for the kids. Overall, it was fairly clean, but many spider webs in lamp shades, and corners. The windows in the bedroom could use some room darkening drapes, some of the plastic blinds are broken. The upstairs bathroom sink could use some work, runs slow. Water pressure is very poor in the kitchen. Some sharp knives would be nice, along with a scissors. Some updating would be very nice!

  We had such a wonderful week staying at Deer Run, Cabin #2. The cabin itself was wonderful, comfortable, spacious, and full of the character that only a building with history can have. there was plenty of room at the kitchen table for 10 adults. The grounds were beautiful, with a campfire close to the lake, and room to play outdoor games of KUUB, cornhole, and Crossnet. We loved playing board games together as a family on the enclosed porch, and drinking coffee on the deck in the morning. The lake itself is wonderful, with places to stop and eat, anchor at a sandbar, and enjoy boating activities. It was hard to return home after such a wonderful week :).

  Overall great experience. Cabin was clean. Location is wonderful. The large deck and sun porch were fabulous for our large family to gather each evening. The cabin is in good shape with many updates. The upstairs bathroom is a bit dated. The bunk room is very nice and can accommodate many. Property management was responsive when we had questions or concerns.

  We stayed in Cabin 2 at Deer Run Resort. This cabin was amazing it fit our large family easily. The cabin was very clean and super cute! The managing company is easy to get a hold of and promptly respond to any questions and are very friendly. We fished, water skied, tubed and relaxed by the camp fire. We played volleyball on the volleyball court and the resort beach was fantastic! There is terrific restaurants and bars nearby. The coffee and candy shops in town are so good. There is also nearby mini golf, horse back riding, and go karts. We had a fabulous week with family making lifelong memories! The sunsets at Deer Run were spectacular a must see! We will absolutely be back!

  Our hunting group has stayed in cabin 2 for 37 years for the gun hunting season. We always have a great time. We will continue in the future. It needs some maintinence on three items. One, Had acorns in the building from a squirrel getting in. Two, water pressure on upstairs bathroom is poor causing a poor shower and toilet flush. Three, floor board in upper west facing bedroom needs work.

  This is the second year the family has stayed in unit #2. The unit is very adequate for our family of 16. When we arrived everything was very clean. We love the hug large deck in the front and the front screened in porch. The beach and lake is awesome. There are a few minor maintenance issues that should be addressed...the main bathroom on the first floor needs to have the light fixture fixed, its been with out two lights for two years now. The pier in front of unit #2 needs some boards replaced, there is one missing and some that are old and falling a part. On the main beach area over half of the lounge chairs were cracked or broken. There could be a few more chairs on the beach available. A yearly maintenance check would go along way.

  It was just ok this year. I know there is not much you can do about the swimmers itch but it was simply just terrible this year. A beach front property with a beach that can’t be used. We also had a mice issue this year. I understand this can’t always be controlled in the north woods but the floors were filthy under fridge and stove and they were camping down there. The front room next to the kitchen smelt musty. Maybe the carpet had gotten wet. The staff has always been great to work with and you can’t really control some of the things like swimmers itch but it simply is just a bummer.

  Overall the building is in good condition. It is roomy and generally clean. There are two bathrooms with showers on the main level and one with shower on the second level. The water pressure on the second level is very weak and the mixing valve goes unexpectedly from comfortable to scalding hot to extremely cold. An immediate fix is needed on that. Also, there was some chewing on toilet paper rolls in the upper level bathroom under the sink...mice??
